South East Regional Zone Development Weekend

Hockey Victoria’s (HV) Regional Zone Development Weekend is back for 2016.

As per 2015, these days involve the delivery of Level 1 Coaching Course & Level 1 Umpiring Course and player development.

This is a great opportunity for club members to brush up on their officiating & coaching skills before the season starts! This year HV is also providing regional affiliates with the opportunity to participate in an Inclusive Clubs workshop and a player skill development session.

Date: Saturday March 5 and Sunday March 6 2016

 

To register your attendance for one or more of the sessions click the register here button (on the top right of this page). The sessions available at the Regional Zone Development Weekend are listed below:

Level 1 Umpiring Course – Saturday March 5 from 9am – 12pm
Level 1 Coaching Course – Saturday March 5 from 1pm – 4pm
Inclusive Club Workshop – Sunday March 6 from 11.30am – 1.00pm
Player Development Session 1 – Sunday March 6 from 9.30am – 11.30am
Player Development Session 2 – Sunday March 6 from 12.00pm – 2.00pm

PLEASE NOTE: The courses and workshop require a minimum of 10 registrations for them to go ahead. Each of the Player Development sessions is strictly limited to 40 participants. The Player Development sessions are not compulsory and will not be used for selection into zone, academy or state teams.

Inclusive Club Workshop

When: Sunday March 6

Where: Federation University, McDonald Way, Churchill

Time: 11:30am – 1:00pm

Who: Member Protection Information Officers, club committee members, general members, club inclusion ambassadors

Hockey Victoria’s (HV) vision it to become the Safe, Welcoming and Inclusive Sport of choice for all Victorians. With this in mind Hockey Victoria has been working closely with the Sport and Recreation Victoria to develop an “Inclusive Club Workshop”.

This workshop is an interactive program designed specifically for clubs to help assist them to create more welcoming and inclusive environments. It is HV’s desire to facilitate these workshops across the club network over the next six months. The workshop is a club based workshop aimed at members of clubs/ associations committees, along with other interested members. The more diverse the attendance, the better the outcomes. It is recommended that the Club Member Protection Information Officer and Club Inclusion Ambassador are in attendance.

Workshop Outline – specific information relating to the club/Association local demographics, what an inclusive club looks like, why a club/association might want to become more inclusive, how to become more inclusive, benefits of being an inclusive club/Association and action steps.

Player Development Sessions 1 & 2

When: Sunday March 6

Where: Federation University, McDonald Way, Churchill

Times: 9.30am – 11.30am and 12.00pm – 2.00pm

Who: Theses sessions are only open to players born between the 31st of December 1999 -2005.

Hockey Victoria is offering player development sessions, in Churchill on Sunday March 20, 2016. Player development sessions will be run at $30.00 per participant. The sessions will be run by Hockey Victoria High Performance coach – Ben Seccull and Zone Head Coaches.

Ben is the Athlete and Coach Development Coordinator at Hockey Victoria (Boys Stream). Ben has extensive playing experience, representing Victoria in many State teams throughout his junior hockey career from U13 – U21’s. He has represented Victoria both in indoor and outdoor teams. He has also been part of the Australian Indoor Development Squad. Ben is the captain of one of Victoria’s Premier League Clubs.

Ben’s current role is to develop the skills and talents of our young Victorian Players. He has more recently coached the U14, U15 and U18 Boys State team and was head coach of Hockey Victoria’s Academy Program. In 2016 he is coaching the Emerging Vikings players and U15 Victorian boy’s state team.

These sessions are designed to upskill players and assist in their development. The sessions are based on the programs run for athletes in the HV Metropolitan Academy Program. Each session will cover:

  • passing and receiving
  • tackling and channelling
  • goal shooting
  • ball carrying and elimination

Level 1 Umpiring Course

When: Saturday March 5

Time: 9am- 12noon

The course will consist of both a theoretical and practical component. Prior to attending this session please ensure you have completed the online registrations and course components through the HockeyEd website (hockeyed.hockey.org.au) For details on HockeyEd, please refer to your course registration confirmation email. The confirmation email will also provide you with all the specific details of the course.

Victoria Gippsland Hockey Drouids

Level 1 Coaching Course
