Aztecs def Drouids 6-1

A well played first half with Aztecs scoring 3 goals to Drouid 1. The second half of the game was even more exciting - if at all possible - with Aztecs playing extremely well as a team.

Goal Scorers:

Owen Douglas 1, Steph Hill 1, Georgia Irwin 1, Matthew Taylor 2, Mel Whitehead 1

Missing 5 of its regular players, the young Drouids were under intense pressure from the start. GK Evan Urquhart made numerous excellent saves. He was assisted by backs Sam Stenson, Nicole Cooper, Dylan Thomson and the very determined Bronte Hobson. Eventually the sheer number of Aztec forays forward won out.

Luke Jamieson scored Drouids’ sole goal after a fast break from defence and lovely play by Brayden Hatfield and Georgie Hobson. Leah Holgate and Dean Gallagher played position well, but overall Aztecs were too strong. Thanks Keshia and Alyce for playing up.

Cassie Jolley stepped up and defended well as did Jackie Mowat with good support from under age players; Steph Hill, Sam Hill and Steph Crookston. A good fast game with a great result for Aztecs.

MENS:

 Drouids 10 def Aztecs 1

The Drouids continue to dominate the competition with four wins on the trot.  Both teams were undermanned, which created many open spaces on the field, allowing the players to run and pass the ball well. Jevan Leggett, Gordon Hobson and Brad Moyle were the best players for the Drouids.

Goals scorers: Chris Addison 4, Leigh Jamison 3, Jevan Leggett 2 and Paul Pearson 1.

Warriors 5 def Gulls 0

The Gulls set structure and planned plays were no match for Warriors’ endless running and dominant possession of the ball. Dave King ran through Gulls defense scoring two deserving goals. Warriors new recruit, Mick Crawford put away two goals showing that Warriors players, new or seasoned veterans, are not to be messed with. Andy Harrison and Tom Messer showed their fitness after having already played a game of football. Luke Martin’s positioning delivered the ball down the wing. Steve Kehayas again showed why he has won the association MVP in the past.
