A hard ground with wet grass provided a fast exciting game that brought out the best stick-work from both teams. Coaches Jake and Tiffany guided the team well.

Playing a strong game resulted in Gulls coming to victory. Although many opportunities presented themselves Gulls managed to score through Alec Bedford and Sam Tyson along with team work. Defense was kept up with keen players Jamie Halihan and David Smith.

Drouids 3 def Warriors 0

Warriors are playing well together and starting to pass and attack as a team. Lauren Gooden did some good running up the field with the ball. Fletcher Boreham was effective at intercepting the ball. Both Samanthas did a great job of attacking. Madelyn Noye did some great saves in the goals in the second half of the game.

Early on, Warriors were doing all the attacking, but Edward Edmonds and Jacob Bush and Alec Madill were strong in defence.  In one of Drouids’ moves, Thomas Park scored.  Danielle Cooper had some important touches as captain and Jenna and Tara Pederson owned the right wing.  At half time, the score was 1-0

Great passing to Jenna Pederson on the wing inside to Lachlan Hannah to James Pugh for an excellent team goal.  “Wing, wing, wing” was again the call by coach Alex Zurrer which was almost the same as “Wide, wide, wide” in previous games.  A team effort saw James score again The best team game for the season. Drouids 7 def Warriors 1

A very entertaining first half saw the Warriors really take it up to Drouids with Drouids scoring the first goal then in a brilliant move Aidan Cumming hit a long pass that beat the Drouids half back line finding Maddie Noye who ran it down the side beat one defender then crossed it into the circle where Nicholas Brown swooped on the ball to slot it pass the keeper into the net. This really lifted the spirit of the Warriors who continued to run very hard defending really well with Jacinta Brown, Aidan Cumming, Leigh Boreham & Nicholas Brown holding out the Drouids’ many attacks. The second half saw the Warriors run out of puff in the latter part of the half allowing Drouids to score some easy goals with end result not really a true indication of the closeness of the match. A special mention to Brendan Noye who played as goalie doing the job with an injury.

Lachlan McLean did some great work on the left wing early, assisting Matt Zurrer pushing forward. Telese Lane was great in defence. Sam Watts gave plenty of options on the wing and was well supplied by Alice Copping. Goals to Jordan Di Pietro and Matt Zurrer saw Drouids up 2:1 at half time. In the second half, Matt Zurrer was outstanding in attack which eventuated in Lachlan Mc Lean and Harry Hearn converting. Telese continued her good form and Samantha Atkinson tackled and passed well. Lachlan scored again after good work from Alice Copping and Ann-Marie Fleming. A late short corner saw William Edmonds score his first goal ever!

Aztecs fought hard against the gulls in first half, but Gulls scored two goals. Brilliant effort for a first time goalie Tiffany Bourke. and Jake Griffiths  played a tireless game. All Aztecs played a splendid game and a great effort by Owen who had a fantastic attempt at a goal, but unfortunately could not convert.

Up-holding a strong defence was in the hands of Grace Gaylard who played a fantastic game. Improving players are Stephanie Gardner and Will Abbott. With a strong defense it allowed Ashley Gaylard (4) the ability to run goals down along with Natalie Tyson (1) also scoring.

Warriors drew

Drouids 0 all

While the coach was busy organising the Goalie, the rest of the team took the initiative and organised themselves for the start of play. From the beginning, the Warriors team played with an aggressive attitude, which led to many opportunities on goal early in the game. In the second half Warriors continued to play well, improving their teamwork

and fighting off a number of attacks by the Drouids team.

After enormous effort, in the last fifteen minutes, by both teams the game ended in a draw.

In a very even, entertaining and hard fought match, a number of Drouids players were prominent all match. Sam Stenson, Julian Hannah, Liz Christian, Dean Gallagher, Luke Jamieson and Kate Christian never stopped running.

Nicole Cooper, Bronte Hobson, Brayden Hatfield and Aaron Calder continued their good recent form in a number of positions  and displayed improved skills and positioning. Usual GK, Evan Urquhart, played on the field this week

and defended very well. Michael Dobson likewise performed creditably in goals. This very young team is developing promisingly.

Gulls def Aztecs 2-0

Aztecs players ran hard and fast with Sam Nap and Leigh Childe quick to tackle and pass the ball to team players.  Patrick Childe showed composure under pressure – especially with a penalty stroke within the first few minutes of the game.  Welcome back to Jasmine Allan who was superb on the defense line.

Gulls came out firing this morning with an early penalty stroke conversion from Chris Miles. Great team play from Ewan Wallin, Isaac Armstrong, Chris Fox and Lara Trevorrow, ably supported by their team mates resulted in a second goal in the first half. The second half continued  in the same intensity without affecting the score. Goal Scorers: Chris Miles (Penalty Stroke) & Ewan Wallin.

Warriors 4 defeated Drouids 1

Warriors had a full contingent of U17 players this week, with very pleasing results. Warriors began their attack early with a well set-up goal by Murray Purvis.  Andrew set up a spectacular deflection for Hayden off a penalty corner. Michael and Andrew played well in the centre field, skillfully working the ball into offense and defending very determined Drouids players. BJ was consistent in the midfield and Hayden dominated up forward.  The second half saw Lyndon save some shots for goal by the Drouids. Michael squeezed in the Warriors’ third goal off another penalty corner. Shaun and Clay dominated in the backline the whole match, while Cassie and Rachel worked the ball up the wing. Persistent attempts on goal saw Murray score his second, the fourth and final goal for the team.  New Warriors player, Chris’ skills have been improving, this week almost scoring his first, only to be thwarted by the Keeper.  Warriors played an excellent team game and were rewarded with a  victory.

Drouids players had to work hard and fast today to gain advantage from Warriors. Tom Watts played excellent defence while Jevan Leggett and Liam Dillon worked well together in the midfield. Danielle Haley consistently received and passed the ball well. Defence played well, but were overcome by Warriors players. A penalty stroke was awarded to Drouids, but unfortunately no goal was scored.

Gabrielle Higgins also found form as an inner and Colleen Crookston scored the other two goals. Well done Colleen! Jackie Mowat and Sam Hill were great support in defence as was the ever reliable Cassie Jolley,, Penni and Rowena Beck.

A warm autumn sunshine saw the Drouids Women’s Team play a strong game against the Aztecs. Although the Drouids didn’t score in the first half, Shelley Olsen saved many shots on goal. The strong forward line made up of Meg O’Brien, Justine Gooding, Bec Smythe, Nicky Cann and Kim Maas and Sophie Wigglesworth had the ball on the forward line, but didn’t score in the first half. The Drouid’s only goal was hit by Sophie who intercepted the ball inside the circle and scored a fantastic goal. The back line was solid through the second half, with Rhonda Lane, Rose Fleming, Helen Dionysopoulos and Heather Fleming strong in defence.

Gulls Green 2 Def Gulls Gold 1

With a fast paced game in full force both teams were working hard for the control of the ball. Gulls Gold worked very well as a team and worked the ball to get it to all there players. Strong in the forward line was Brooke Wearne and backing her up was Kylee Hunt assisting in the scoring of a goal from Nicole Fitzpatrick (1).

Playing a hard game in the heat of the day Gulls Green managed to come out with a win. Running hard and playing very well in defence was Jenny Miles and Sarah Miles. Early in the first half the first goal was scored by Nora Ross and the second was scored by Cathy Gower. The return of Jeff and Greg Finger, and Paul Black as well as a fitter Eric Farmer  and Jamie Cochrane caused the Gulls defence plenty of problems.  James Leitner returned from his broken nose, and he,  Brian Taylor and Chris Wood Davies were strong in Aztecs defence, and Patrick Childe mopped up in goals, as well as saving a penalty stroke.  At half time, Aztecs were ahead 1-0, thanks to a good team goal finished off by Eric.    Gulls finished stronger, although Aztecs had plenty of good opportunities in the second
