On a cold and very foggy morning, Aztecs used excellent stick skills and made a strong defensive team. Ebony Scott was able to score the first goal and was well supported by Eliza Bullen, Jake Brown, Chloe Bourke, Michael Finger, Dean McKenzie and Tayla Brown as Goalie. The second half proved to be a level playing field with skills from both teams being very strong. Aztecs managed to score another goal to win the game, well done everybody.

Following good attacking-play by the forwards a second goal was deflected off Lauren’s stick. Jack Rinehard showed great defensive skills. Drouids 3 Def Gulls 0
Beginning the game undermanned meant it was going to be a hard game from the start. Great work in the goals was displayed by Jack Farnham and helping him in defense was Jessica Ross.
An early attacking foray by Drouids saw Jenna Pedersen strike a goal from broken play. Attacking pressure persisted for the Drouids and Lachlan Hannah received a beautiful pass just inside the goal circle. A firm strike saw a ball smack the back of the goal decisively. Two nil in favour of the Drouids was the half-time score. Drouids maintained the attacking pressure early in the second half. A pass from James Pugh across the goal was deflected in by Richard Jones to make it three nil to Drouids and that was the score at full-time.
Goal scorers: Jenna Pedersen 1, Lachlan Hannah 1, Richard Jones 1.
Aztecs 2 def Warriors 1
Despite the cold and foggy conditions, Aztecs played a great game against a very determined Warriors team. Attacking effort by Leesa Crookston and Adam Smetana paid off with goals by Chris Cooper and Ryan Ward. A solid defense line was formed by Katie Finger (most disciplined player award) and Shannon Ward. Special thanks to Liam Robinson from the under 11’s, plus Michael Finger’s excellent goalie work.
Warriors, the minnows of the competition, took on the might of the Aztecs. Aztecs would have been expecting it to be an easy assignment, but someone forgot to tell the Warriors this as they fought this game right out taking it to the wire. The magnificent and unflappable Jacinta Brown as goalie stopped just about everything. Then there was Aiden Cumming who worked tirelessly in defense repelling many attacks with sister Sam Cumming giving great support. Brendan Noye showed great ball skills to punch holes in the Aztecs defenses creating many forward thrusts, one of these produced a sensational goal scored by the nippy Nicholas Brown who ran onto Brendan's pass then carried the ball into the circle and managed to slot the ball pass four Aztec defenders into the goals First timer, Carly Mattson, was throwing herself into the play in a great display for someone who had only picked up a hockey stick two days earlier.

Everyone played extremely well this week, particularly the Goal scorers, Sam Lodge 2, Clay Beasly 1 Jack Trippett 1

An even game from both sides with great teamwork being shown throughout the entire game. Showing his great ball skills was Wes Dowel getting many great passes off to score goals, with Natalie Tyson getting three by great positioning and also Wes scoring a goal himself. Showing great improvement this week was Sarah Anderson along with Mel Forth showing how well she can defend the goal.
Drouids matched Gulls for most of the game, but at critical times failed to mark their players near the post. Luke Jamieson, Julian Hannah [1 goal each] and Dylan Thomson continued their recent excellent form. Bronte and Georgie Hobson played well and followed their coach’s instructions re manning up and playing position. Nicole Cooper, Leah Holgate, Brayden Hatfield and Sam Stenson were solid contributors. Evan Urquhart, under constant pressure, played a very commendable game as goalkeeper and made several vital clearances.

The foggy conditions dampened Aztecs determination to win at all costs. A sluggish Aztecs team kept Warriors scoreless. Leigh Childe, as centre forward, kept the ball moving up and down the field. Jasmine Allan was strong in defense and was well supported by Jake Griffiths. Despite injury, Jamie Cochrane played valiantly as right inner

Gulls Vs Drouids
A good game today in foggy conditions. Ewan Wallin scored for Gulls while good performances from James Meaker, Isaac Armstrong, Tiarna Kramer, Justin Grigoleit and Chris Miles helped make a competitive effort. Peter Eshuis, Kasey Crestani, Emma Hoffman, Ben Bloomfield, Nathan Kemp, Laura Court, Rochelle MacFarlane and Wes Dowel completed the good team effort. Gulls can be justifiably disappointed in losing today.
Goal Scorer: Ewan Wallin.
The Drouids team played their best game of the season. All players positioned themselves strategically so the ball could be passed quickly up the field, which resulted in two goals from Leigh.

Despite the somewhat muddy ground, this game proved to still be in the best nature of the sport. Running a hard game to help in the scoring of the goal was Emma Wallan, Tianna Krama and Claire. Playing great skill on the wings to keep the game open was Emma Hoffmann and Cathy Gower. Many thanks to those ladies who play up from the younger games each week to help out our numbers, giving us a fighting chance to have a somewhat successful season.
Drouids 2 drew Warriors 2
With both teams undermanned, Drouids women put in a great effort to hold Warriors to a 2-2 draw. Lauren Finger scored the first goal for Drouids from a short corner. Drouids’ second goal was a result of great team play, with a cross from Lorraine Tyson to Meg O’Brien on the post. Heather Fleming in goals had a great game, and the half back line of Sophie and Claire Wiglesworth and Amy Worley, tackled persistently throughout the game. Teamwork has been a feature of the Drouids women this year and this game continued that trend.

The Warriors were again under manned, but showed why they are on top of the ladder withstanding strong attacks in the first half. Early in the second half, Kris Breaden turned defense into attack scoring a strong goal from a pass from Steve Kehayas.
Another great pass from Andy Messer just prior to the final siren resulted in a second goal to Kris, allowing the Warriors to seal the match.
The game was open and free flowing, and Aztecs were unlucky not to score through Jamie and Paul on a number of occasions. Leigh controlled the centre, and Eric and Jamie were damaging with fast runs on the wings exposing the Warriors defense. Aztecs lost Ben through injury midway in the first half and his defensive skills were missed as Warriors scored to lead 1-0 at half time. Brian and James were instrumental in the second half, turning defense into attack on many occasions. Some good attacking teamwork resulted in Ross putting the ball in the back of the net with about fifteen minutes to go. Warriors attacked vigorously and scored with seconds remaining to win a match that deserved a draw.
Goalscorers: Ross Midgley 1.
Drouids 2 def Gulls 0
The Drouids are back on the winners list with a convincing win against the in-form Gulls. It was a skilful game with all players contributing well. Dan Wiglesworth and Alec Zurrer were solid in the midfield and Michael Smythe (GK) continued to impress in goals. Both goals were scored in the second half by Chris Addison and Gordon Hobson.
The Gulls struggled against a determined Drouids unit all game. Ben Sandy put in his best game for the year and made his opponents work for their possessions. Adam Horne did a great job in goals, making some freakish reflex saves.
