A great first game back for Aztecs with two goals from Michael Finger. Both teams played well with good running from both Adam Smetana and Chris Cooper. Goal Keeper Ebony Scott saved a lovely goal in the first half. Hard work from all the Aztec players saw a number of chances to goal and stopped many more by a very strong defence.
Drouids were under pressure from the first ten minutes when Aztecs started with a lightning two goals. They quickly refocused improving their hitting and forwards Richard Smith and Jacob Bush passed well to advance on goals. Jenna Pederson used quick wits to score from a rebound. Rosemary McCormick stuck to her wing position to draw out play. It was a great team effort.

Drouids 3 defeated Aztecs 0
It was a hard fought, physical game against Drouids. The score was not indicative of the high standard of play. For Aztecs, Jamie Cochrane played the field and produced many long strong hits. Sam Nap supported her team mates well and Alex Stammers saved many goals, as well as encouraging the back players to show their best defensive style.
Gulls 6 defeated Warriors 0
The undermanned Warriors fought hard to keep the score to 6. The amount of shots that were laid on Lyndan was amazing to only see 6 go in. Warriors forwards worked hard with everyone contributing. It was unfortunate that no goals were scored.
Gulls played well and made good use of the wings and crossed the ball well to create space, which allowed field goals to Todd Beasley and Martin Pywell. A solid defence by Gulls kept the ball mostly in attack and great attacking work kept the ball moving forward. A great stroke was taken by Chris in the last few minutes of the game.
Women’s
Warriors 6 defeated Gulls Green 0
Warriors dominated the first half which only got easier as the undermanned Gulls ran out of breath. Warriors worked well together to get around the goalie and to keep on track despite the strong winds making conditions harder. Wendy Taylor and Kim Rinehart on the forward line nearly payed off with several attempts on goal. Sam Williamson played well to convert a goal. Other goal scorers were Chris Hobbs, Janelle New, Lisa Deppeler, Lisa Hatfield and Cassie Baker.
An undermanned Gulls Green team, after recruiting Julie Anderson from the sidelines, played a valiant game. Goalie Rochelle MacFarlane, with her team mates help, defended determinedly. Emma Wallin and Tiarna Kramer were the key players for the team and Cathy worked so hard and did the team proud.
Aztecs 4 defeated Gulls Gold 2
An undermanned Aztecs played an attacking game which saw all players contributing to a great win. The ever reliable Penni Beck was the source of attack, tackling tenaciously and fighting hard to support the defence. Without Jan Park, Melissa Scott and Robyn Ridsdale in defence, the score would probably have favoured the Gulls but the forward line strove for success to counteract at the other end. Megan Farmer put in a top effort throughout the game and was backing up regularly. Bonnie James and Kerry Irwin both played the wings and excellent positioning saw them score. Rowenna Beck assisted in the goals and was unlucky not to score herself.
First game after the break was like the beginning of the season for Gulls Gold with great team passing. Toot Hunter scored our second goal for the season, half backs Robyn Follett, Wendy McLean and under 15 players Mel Forth all had a great game in the second half. Julie Beasley scored the second goal.
Men’s

A severely undermanned Aztecs team showed determined defence to blunt many attacks. A bold forward move by Morgan Pallot and Brendan Stammers late in the first half resulted in Brendan scoring and the Drouids goalie being shown the yellow card for an over zealous tackle. The second half saw Leigh Childe notable in his tireless efforts in the goal circle.
An also undermanned Drouids were quick out of the blocks with 5 goals in the first 15 minutes with Alec Zurrer the main goal scorer. The Aztecs snuck in a goal before half time. The three week rest tested the players fitness with the younger players Jayden Leggett and Dean Beasley leading the charge. The Drouids put on a further six in the 2nd half with Alec Zurrer continuing his goal spree with the help of Chris Garden & Alister Milne who returned after a lengthy absence due to injury. A fighting effort by the Aztecs who just couldn’t match the Drouids on the day.
