Gulls Gold 1 defeated Warriors 0
A very hard fought game with Gulls just holding out to the end of the game. Pippa Dent tackled hard, Daniel Greenall kept a close eye on the game and the McWha bothers created great play in attack and defence. Goal scorer: Jamie McWha.
Warriors had a defensive first half with Sammy Taylor starring. Great teamwork in attack to force a corner which unfortunately did not result in a goal. Fantastic to see Warriors working well together which is a credit to coach Kym Reinhart.
Gulls Green 1 defeated Drouids Navy 0
This was an excellent game by Gulls Green. Congratulations to Robbie for a great game and to Jessica and Nick for great work in defence. Go Gulls Green!!
Riley, Tara and Edward provided plenty of drive for Drouids. Some terrific pushes from Drouids resulted in great runs from Callum, while Caitlin and Jacob continue to improve.
Drouids Blue 3 defeated Aztecs 0
Great effort by all Drouids Blue players. Jenna Wright kept her eye on the ball, Megan defended well in goals and Mia ran well all game. Isaac Daly, Todd McLean, Stephanie Zurrer and Sam Watts combined together to drive the ball forward. Great Win!
Tayla Brown scored Aztecs first goal in the first half while the second half belonged to her brother Jake with two goals. Sarah Chandler tackled well all game. Coach Tony was seen jumping for joy at Aztecs U9’s first win for the season.
Under 11
Warriors 1 defeated Gulls 0
Warriors forwards worked together well for a quick corner. Great defensive skills and determination were shown by Todd, Aiden and Ethan. Jack scored Warriors goal after Hayley, Leigh and Brendan brought the ball down the field. Well done on a great team effort.
The game ebbed and flowed with Gulls having many chances but were unable to put any home. Michael Bellingham showed terrific support for Gulls other attackers. Improver of the week is Jack Farnham – well done!
Aztecs 3 defeated Drouids 2
Shannon Ward showed great strength in the first half with good back up from Shaun Griffiths. Dean McMaster and Michael Finger played well in the second half. Welcome to Chris Cooper who joined us for his first game with Aztecs. Thanks to Angie for coaching.
Drouids defender, William Edmunds, displayed great tackling and clearing out of defence while at the opposite end of the ground Jacob Bush scored a brilliant goal as did Richard Jones. Thanks to Deb Wiglesworth for getting Drouids off to a good start to 2006.
Under 13
Warriors 2 drew with Gulls 2
In a very entertaining game Warriors controlled a lot of the play. Nicholas Brown was very lively up forward scoring twice. Jared Lynch in goals showed a great ability to read the play and made some great saves. All the team were great contributors to this drawn match.
This was a fantastic game to watch with plenty of pressure from both sides. Lauren and Lucia were in dazzling form this week, Ashley and Aubrey were strong in defence and Michael scored a sensational goal with Jake following up to level the scores. Improver: Steph.
Drouids 4 defeated Aztecs 3
Drouids played a great attacking game. Aaron, Alice and Alyce worked well in defence while Sam, Liz and Kate pushed hard in the mid field. Fantastic effort from all. Goal scorers: Matthew Zurrer 3, Sam Stenson.
Both teams played a fast exciting game with Aztecs showing great determination to even the score when down 3-0. Great positioning by Leesa Crookston resulted in 2 goals. Essie Ward ran the field to score his effort. Well done Aztecs with great teamwork shown by all.
Under 15
Aztecs 5 defeated Drouids 2
A good first half with Aztecs scoring 3 goals. Leigh Childs played well up forward with great back up from Jessie Ward and Tiffany Bourke. Jake Griffith intercepted the ball well. Thanks to the several U13 players for helping out.
Gulls 6 defeated Warriors 1
Gulls played an outstanding game of hockey. Michael worked really hard to be the improver of the week and Ben, our terrific goalie, played great hockey on the field! Goals went to Wes 3, Ricky 2 and Michael 1.
Under 17
Gulls 3 defeated Warriors 1
A great game by Gulls saw coach Rod rotate the bench consistently throwing players into unfamiliar territory, the main recipients being Chris, Martin and Ben. Solid games by Matt, James, Todd, Emma, Chris, Isaac and Nathan, who played strongly in defence.
Undermanned Warriors fought another exciting game in which newcomer Murray Purvis managed to score in his first game. Daniel Bellfield, also in his first gam, made his presence felt. Great work from Peter Koziell, Bethany Martin and Mark Baker as goalie.
Drouids 2 defeated Aztecs 1
A hard fought game by both sides meant the scores were low, but the skill display and running of the field was at a high. Alex Stammers made many heart wrenching saves in goal for Aztecs and the Drouids goalie was kept equally busy. All players deserve to be congratulated on their persistent chase of the ball and determination to have control of the game. Goal scorers: Drouids – Tom Copping, Michael Dobson. Aztecs – James Leitner.
Women’s
Warriors 7 defeated Gulls Gold 0
Great clearances from Warriors defensive goal by Lisa Hatfield who delivered it to Chris Hobbs who took it all the way to the attacking goal, passed it to Wendy Taylor who sent it home for the opening goal. Great teamwork and talking by all. Goal scorers: Wendy Taylor 4, Janelle New 2, Lisa Hatfield.
Drouids 7 defeated Gulls Green 0
This was a fantastic game played by
Drouids Women. Becky, Nikki, Celeste and Stacey showed great teamwork on the
forward line. The teamwork across the whole team is improving greatly every
week. Well done by all. Goal Scorers: Becky 2, Celeste 2, Jenna, Eliza.
Men’s
Warriors 1 drew with Gulls 1
This was a hard fought, good defensive game. Gulls kept Warriors scoreless until the last few seconds of the game. A goal by Ben Hallyburton was scored midway through the 2nd half. Great games by John Miles in goal, Michael Van Dord, Rob Greenall, Ben Hallyburton and Ken Kemp.
