Warriors Two def Gulls Two  3-0

Great teamwork from the Warriors gained them a victory this week, led by team captain Wade Goodwin. Josh Horsburgh played his fist game for the season, scoring an impressive three goals! Awesome effort. Fantastic play also by Wade Goodwin, Shannon Fisher, Shenae Brown, Angelina Interlandi, Alice Horsburgh and Larni Goodwin. Drouids def Aztecs 6 – 1

With Aztecs only having a low number of team members they still was able to enjoy a friendly game, with many passes and teamwork displayed.

Great defense by Brittney Forrest, Erin Park, Chloe Forrest and Rachel Prout. Our most improved player for the match was Chloe Forrest, well done. Key player for the day was our only goal scorer with 1 goal, Saffron Park.

For Drouids, Nathan Smith was great in attack, with Kelsey Powell, to which they scored goals. Mikayla Smith had great runs down the field, helping to back up many of Drouids goals. Tamsyn Pearson, Lachlan Pearson and Henry Grant showed determination in the mid field, to push the ball towards their end. Connah Smythe demonstrated stick control as he dribbled the ball towards the attacking circle. Austin Williamson played an excellent game, backed up his players to where the ball deflect off the goalies pads and Austin pushed the ball into the goal. Well Done Drouids to a fun game.

Goal scorers: Nathan smith (4), Austin Williamson (1), Kelsey Powell (1)

Gulls One def Warriors One 1 - 0
A very evenly played game with all players from both teams getting involved, working hard and contesting at every opportunity. This made for a great challenge and great teamwork all over the ground. The first half saw the Gulls1 breakthrough the Warrior1 defence and score the only goal of the half. The second half of the game was evenly contested and fought out by both teams with neither team able to score.

The hard working Gulls team 1 spent most of the match in the opposition circle with good positional play by Gabi Carbon and attacking strategy by Olivia Donders (the match's most disciplined player) helping Darcy Lewis score his champion goal. Well done also to Ruthie Tucker for moving from loyal supporter to actual match play!

Gulls drew Warriors 0 - 0
It was a very even tussle between both teams. In the first half the Warriors
had most of the play at their end whilst the Gulls dominated the second
half. In the end it was a nil all draw. Sam Gilbert and Isabella Donders
played brilliantly for the Gulls with Sam having a number of near misses at
the goals. Stewart Bedford was also unlucky not score a number of times.
Gabby Carbon played like a terrier in the midfield and Daniel Greenall
stopped numerous attacks by the Warriors. Overall it was a good team effort.
Olivia Donders, Isabella Mann, Eliza Greenall, Travis Gallager and Mitchell
Nunan all contributing significantly.

Drouids def Aztecs 6 - 0

Drouids had a strong start to the game with Jarrod Smith scoring a goal within the first couple of minutes. Persistent attack paid off early in the second half with Isaac Daly scoring the second goal. Great teamwork resulted in Kelsey Powell’s first under 11 goal. Determination from Chelsea Beca put the ball in position for yet another goal. Another goal to Jarrod and Isaac, assisted by a number of under 9’s, gave the team a resounding win- a great way to celebrate Isaac’s birthday. Fantastic work by the entire team.

Goal scorers: Jarrod Smith (3), Isaac Daly (2), Kelsey Powell (1)

A cool but sunny day greeted Aztecs and Drouids under 11’s.  Good defending from the Aztecs stopped many goals. Jesse Brown & Ariane Ross ran and passed the ball well.   Brad Akers and James Carey showed that they were not afraid to get in and get the ball. Great teamwork Aztecs!

Warriors def Gulls 6 -2

The game started with action in the Warriors goal circle, but Gulls were the first to score.  This motivated the Warriors to play with greater zeal and Lauren Gooden scored the first goal.  Samantha Cumming played well in defence and kept the Gulls out of the goal circle.  Jack Rinehart also played well in defence and passed well to the forward line, helping to set up the scoring of 2 goals, one by Fletcher Boreham and another by Lauren Gooden, her second goal for the game.  Other goal scorers, with each scoring 1 goal, were Cameron Dyt, Maddy Noye and Giselle McNamara.  Warrior’s goalie, Damian Crawford, had more action in this game and blocked many of the Gulls attempts to score.  Tanita Brown played well on the wing, and in the goal circle stayed close to the post, keen to guide the ball in but was unlucky not to score.  In the second half the team played well together, passing the ball more often and spread the play through out the field. Another good game by the Warriors team.

Great play by the Gull’s Under 13 team. Alec Bedford was the Gulls scorer with 2 goals against the Warriors 6. Josh Gilbert played some great power shots straight up midfield combined with some brilliant running & tackling by Ryan Claxton. Pippa Dent was a valuable recourse stopping then, moving the ball back up the field towards Gulls goals. Courtney James had a couple of great stops, Rachel Harris showed great tenacity in defence. Nick Mann did an outstanding job in goals, blocking quite a few of the Warrior attempts at goal.

Good teamwork & fair play shown by this determined young team Thanks to Sam Gilbert & Matt Duttnell for playing up this week.

Drouids def Aztec 6 - 0

Drouids dominated in the first half against a depleted Aztec team, with Mitchel Park, Edward Edmonds, Lachlan Hannah and Riley scoring a goal each.  The Aztec team fought hard in the second half being persistent in their tackling.  Drouids goalie, Piper Hobson prevented Aztec scoring.  Grace Park displayed good stick skills. Drouids managed to score another two goals in the second half by Stephanie Zurrer and Lachlan Hannah. Overall a great team game for Drouids.

Evenly played first half with Drouids scoring two goals by Lachlan Hannah who tapped them in.  Drouids then came out strongly in the second half with goals scored by James Pugh, Lachlan Hannah, Ben McCarty & Jacob Bush.  Ben McCarty displayed great speed and passing throughout the game.  Prue Grant consistently positioned well, clearing the ball and passing well.  Aztecs scored and seemed to revitalize putting more pressure on Drouids as they scored their second goal towards the end of the game.

Gulls def Warriors 6 - 0

Pleasing to see great teamwork played through to the final siren by the Gulls. Ashley Gaylard played well in attack and scored three goals. Good positioning by Elliot Campbell who scored two goals and Kelsey Bayles who scored one goal. Good running with the play and set up of some goals by Joel Claxton.  Solid attacking and defending by Melinda Kemp, Evan Tyson and Kiarn Uliando. Thanks to Narelle Armstrong who played up to help the Gulls. Thanks to Nathan Kemp for stepping in to coach this season.

Drouids def Aztecs 3 - 1

Drouids had another fantastic win, scoring the first three goals of the match, with many fantastic saves by our wonderful goalie LiamWatts. Tristisn Walker made two wonderfully sneaky goals on post giving us a great start to the game. It was topped off with Lachlan McLeans goal sealing the game. With wonderful team play in the second half we were able to keep the Aztec to a minimal score. Fantastic effort to Jacob Bush, James Pugh along with Sam Stenson and Luke Jamison keeping it in the scoring end for most of the game. Wonderful work from all team player a great team win. Well done to all the players in under 17 and the many players who played up for us without you it would not have been so successful.

Tenacious teamwork and unrelenting effort by each player resulted in an undermanned Aztecs team applying constant pressure on the Drouids, both in defence and attack. Luke Taylor, Luke Hall and Chris Copper (U15) provided a constant threat of interception, possession and running attack. Megan Forrest (U15) lifted her game to a higher level, not yielding to the Drouid’s pressure and winning many contests against seemingly stronger players. Bridget Ockerse’s smile could be seen from under her helmet after the warning many goal attempts. Lukas Willig (U15) continues to impresses with great skills under this baptism of fire in the under 17s. Aztecs lost the game but it was a victory for teamwork and made for a very exciting game.

Women

Drouids def Aztecs 3-2

The teamwork clicked today for Drouids Women resulting in a well-fought 3-2 win.  With Meg O’Brien in goals, the defence halted many strong attempts.  Nicki Cann in the centre defended many runs by the Aztecs with second efforts paying off.  The goal scorers were supported by fantastic midfield from Prue Grant, Rosie McCormack and Claire Wigglesworth.

Goal scorers: Telese Lane, Becky Smythe, Leah Holgate

A great team effort, which saw fantastic passing amongst the forward line. Alicia Wood-Davies was again strong in attack and together with timely tackles and pushes from Nat Tyson and Jane Rees on the left side helped her to score. Steph Hill was great support on the right and Anna Nielsen’s increasing skills and positioning saw her score her first goal from the post. Steph Crookston played a superb defensive game as centre half tackling well and driving forward. The relentless Jan Park was in everything and Robyn Ridsdale, Cass Jolley and Jackie Mowat defended strongly. A big thanks to Bridgette Ockerse who filled in as goal keeper and saved many a Drouids attack

Goal Scorers: Alicia Wood-Davies 1, Anna Nielsen 1

Men’s

Drouids drew Aztecs 1 - 1

In a hard fought match Drouids were able to extract a draw through a great goal from Lachie Mclean in the second half.  The game was fast despite slippery conditions, with the ball continuously going from one end of the field to the other.  Mick played well in goals, and Adam, Nathan, Alec and Rohan played consistently.  Anthony, John and Tom played a good game as well.  Well done team.

Goal scorers: Lachie McLean
