It was a great game between Warriors 2 and Drouids. It's good to see that warriors are playing really well as a team. The captain for today was Angelina Interlandi who played extremely good and got the most discipline award today. Kate Rinehart was able to help her team and manage to set up a goal. Well done warriors for a great game.
Goal scorers: Josh
Horsburgh (3) and Vanessa Gooden (1)
Drouids played a tough game against warriors.
Welcome back to the Wright family, and Dougal Wright played a strong attacking
game. Henry Grant kept his eye on the ball and was in most of the play. Drouids
had a lot of the ball in their area and with many short corners but wasn’t able
to turn it to goals as Warriors had a strong defence. Kelsey Powell was able to
score a goal in the second half from a quick break.
Goal scorers: Kelsey Powell (1)
Gulls 2 played their best
game this season. They displayed good strong defensive play. Coach was impressed
to see some great potential in Alice Greenall. Congratulations to Aztecs 1
who defeated Gulls 2. Very close game. Well done Gulls 2!
It
was great to see a full team take to the field. Aztecs spent most of the first
half in attack. Alannah Balcombe had a fantastic run taking the ball from
halfway and finishing up by scoring a goal. The second half had the team in
defence and great teamwork stopped the gulls from scoring. Special mention to
Claire Giles, Hayden Smith, Ryan Giles and Katilyn Spragg for great effort
shown.
Aztecs
was unable to score this week, but well done to Saffron Park and Erin Park great
effort. Chloe Forrest showed much improve, well done.
In defence were Brittney and Anthony
Forrest where they fought hard. Chloe Forrest and Rachel Prout displayed great
skills, Well done, you did a great job fantastic team players all of you.
The Gulls win this week was
a result of solid support from Jacob Nunan, tenacious tackling by Alex
Elder, Gilly Tucker and Olivia Donders, dogged determination by Darcy Lewis,
unwavering support by Katie Tucker (most disciplined player) and superb scoring
by Gabi Carbon. Well done Gulls!
Aztecs v Warriors
Both
teams started very well, moving the ball around from 1 end to the other. James
Carey went a long way up the centre, but Warriors defenders were very strong and
again took it back down, where our defenders were ready, this was continuous
thought out the game. Good attempts from Hayden Smith and Brad Akers for goals
in the first half, only to see the Warriors stand their ground to see it
scoreless at half time. After a bit of inspirational talk with the coaches the
Aztecs come out trying very hard indeed with great try from Chloe Scott. Jesse
Brown and Tara Bagnall tried to work the ball but still the Warriors defenders
keep the ball out of the goal area.
Both team worked very hard indeed. Great
team effort from Aztecs, with Leah Rasmussen Awarded the Most Disciplined Player
of the Day. Well done Leah.
This week’s game was a good even contest that showed the solid defensive skills
of both teams. Many attacking moves were stopped at both ends of the ground.
Warriors began on the attack with long passes down field by Lachlan Naylor to
Daniel Frost, creating short corners and had Warriors looking dangerous. Aztecs
defence was up to the challenge. Down field, Olivia Stagg chased and won the
ball, combining with Jasmine Mead to repel repeated attacks from a determined
Aztecs team. Josh Horsburgh, in his first game this year made his presence felt,
getting in amongst the action and showing great stick skills at both ends of the
ground and putting Warriors into attack. Lachlan Clark made a nice trap that
halted yet another forward move by Aztecs and Tom Taylor passed accurately to
teammates to bring the ball towards Warriors goal. In the end, a draw was a
fitting result for the outcome of this hard fought match.
Drouids was able to play a full team with 3 player coming up from under 9’s, Thanks, without these players we would be playing short. Felicity Johnson used her skilled and knowledge and was able to place herself well to attack the ball. Thanks to Jarrod Smith who was able to play in many different positions this week and ending up scoring the goal. Courtney McDonald played on the mid field were she didn’t let any ball pass her. Great teamwork was displayed, which in turn let Drouids win.

A
great scoring game for Warriors, And Aztecs played a skilful game, even though
they were down a few players. Maddy Noye moved well in the circle and scored 3
goals. Jack Rinehart also contributed by scoring 2 goals. Sam Taylor
passed to Tanita Brown who scored her first goal for the season. And then
Tanita Brown set up a goal that was touched in by Giselle McNamara who also
scored 1 goal in the game. Damian Crawford was full of enthusiasm on the
field and was successful in scoring 1 goal. Sam Cumming also played well
on the field. Cameron Dyt was great as the goalie and showed everyone that
he has a good kick. Fletcher Boreham was great in defence and Etham Calway
played well on the forward line, and had many good shots at goal, but unable to
score this time.

Scorers: Maddy Noye (3), Jack
Rinehart (2), Damian
Crawford (1),Giselle McNamara (1)

Drouids started the game in a very attacking manner with three short corners in
a row. Callum Hobson was playing a great captains game with good work in offence
leading up to Drouids first goal by Lachlan Hannah which was assisted by Mitchel
Park. Sam Watts and Megan Wright were playing well in the midfield. In the
second half Jack Shaddock saved a shot on goal by gulls and the ball rebounded
for Steph Zurer scoring on the post.
All the Park boys were playing well seeing Mitchell Park scoring Drouids third
goal/
The
morning was warm and the air was still, which made Saturday a perfect day for
hockey. In the first half of the game it was fast and there was endless running
up and down the field from defense to defense. The Gulls earned a couple of
short corners but failed to convert their chances to goals. The Drouids scored
two goals in the first half. Finally Gulls got a score from Jessica Christiana,
making the score 2-1 Drouids way. There was good defense by Josh Gilbert and the
Drouids got two more to finish 4 to 1 Drouids way.
A great game was had by the under 15’s today.
A very even match of attacking and defending.
Drouids scored an early goal but this did not deter the Gulls.
Drouids made many more attempts but the goalie for Gulls was strong in
their defence. The match finished
strongly with the Drouids winning.
Goal scorers: Jacob Bush (2), Jenna Pedersen
(1), Eddie Edmonds (1)
On a fine afternoon Warriors lead the attack pushing the ball
forward hard hitting into the goal circle, they were unlucky to score on many
occasions.
Brendan Noye scored one goal on a short corner. Shae
Honan tried hard to defend.
Goal Scorer: Brandan

Aztecs def Warriors 2 - 1
Boosted numbers gave Aztecs the opportunity this week to set up more targets in the forward line and play a more attacking style of game. Megan Forrest and Owen Douglas capitalized on this, acting as strong targets to hit to. Luke Taylor, Luke Hall and Katie Finger did well and were able to regularly feed the ball into the forward line. Defensively, Chris Cooper and Adam Smetana worked together superbly to provide excellent levels of defence.
Goal Scorers: Luke
Taylor (1), Megan Forrest (1).
A great first half saw an early goal by
Lachlan McLean and great teamwork saw a strong defence stop multiple attacks on
goals. Unfortunately gulls scored two quick goals leaving the score 2- 1 at half
time. Strong passes by Keshia Legget, Ben McCarty saw so many near goals.
Lachlan McLean scored again levelling the game. Strong defence saw no more goals
scored by either team. Good Game Drouids!
Goal scorers: Lachlan McLean (2)
The young Aztecs players really stepped up this week to cover the absence of
three key players, with excellent results. Bridgette Ockerse was superb in
attack, controlling the ball well and dodging and weaving into the D. Tiffany
Bourke played a strong game, backing up and fighting to retain possession. Jan
Park and Sam Hill were ever reliable in defence and Steph Crookston continues to
be handy on the back line. Robyn and Barb didn’t see a lot of action but stood
proudly watching the young guns show off their skills. Jane Rees made excellent
position and scored the only goal of the game from a fantastic pass across the D
from Bridgette. Nat Tyson was unlucky not to score on several occasions. Thanks
to Warriors for a friendly game.
Warriors tried hard all day and were unlucky to score, in
muddy conditions it was difficult to maintain balance. Lisa Smith had many shots
at goal.
Drouids first goal came from a short corner in the first half. With a full team
we were able to have many people try different positions, which made the players
lean to talk and use each other. Jackie Smythe was able to score a goal in the
second half, after many misses. Well done to Meg O’Brian to scoring a goal.
Drouids played a great team game, but it was unfortunately we had to stop, when
an ambulance was called after Helen Timbray took a ball to the head. She came
out of hospital later with seven stitchers to her left eyebrow.
Aztecs def Warriors
5 - 2
A
great team effort by Aztecs with several strong runs towards goal. Logan
Colley-Curtin played well up forward, well supported by Matt Taylor. Strong
defence restricted the Warriors forwards, with Ben Falzon once again outstanding
in goals.
Mick Crawford was goalie
and tried hard to defend the ball from the goals, Lyndon Calway pushed the ball
forward in attempts to score. Warriors tried hard all day.
Goal scorers: Andy
Messer (1), Tyler McInnes (1)
Drouids men played well as a team this week in
a hard fought contest. Jevan Legget
and Alec Zurrer controlled the ball well in the midfield pushing the ball
forward on many occasions. John
Thomson and Tom Copping made plenty of scoring opportunities up forward with
assistance from Dean Gallagher and Chris Addison.
Rohan Lester scored the Drouids goal during the first half. Gordon Hobson
and Chris Garden were solid in defence.
