Drouids Navy 3 defeated Aztecs 2

Aztecs played a wonderful team game in terrible conditions, the mud slowed the ball considerably but Taylor Brown was still able to run the ball up field to result in a well deserved goal. Jake Brown scored the other Aztec goal through a strong Drouids defence.

Despite mucky conditions Drouids Navy used their heads and made great positions, which helped Lachlan Hannah to score. Both teams ran the ball up in the second half with many scoring opportunities for both. Fast breaks from Drouids provided two goals with desperate defence by Aztecs resulting in the goals being knocked over. Callum and Lachlan both scored.

Gulls Gold 4 defeated Warriors 0

Jamie McWha , Alec Bedford and Fletcher Boreham worked together well to keep the Warriors scoreless, and Michael Knersh improved a great deal. Warriors made Gulls work for their goals, but Luke McWha managed to score twice.

Gulls played a strong attacking game with most of the game being played in their forward circle. Warriors worked hard in defence but were outdone on the day.

Drouids Blue 3 defeated Gulls Green 0

Riley Morton played a fantastic game for Drouids Blue, moving the ball down field scoring a goal. Also Edward Edmonds scoring two due to his fast legs! Zoe Bush, Charlie Park, Stephanie Zurrer, Tara Peterson, Todd McLean and Felicity Johnson played well as a team on a very cold Saturday morning to produce a well-earned win.

A great team effort by Gulls Green. Jessica Ross, Nicholas Mann and Robert Schmitt did brilliantly in defence. Thanks to Drouids Blue for the extra players; well done Caitlin Jones and Riley Hicks.

Warriors 1 drew Drouids 1

Warriors Goalie Leigh Boreman did a great job. A great pass from Brendan Noye to Ben Murphy resulted in the Warriors goal. Jack Rinehart was great at tackling and following the ball to win the frees and Georgia Gooden pushed the ball well up the field.

Some great forward thrusts by Drouids in the first half were rewarded with a goal to first game player Harry Hearn. William was solid in defence, and Danielle Cooper and Prue Grant provided good feeds to the forwards from the backline.

For Drouids, Keisha Leggett, Liz Christian, Penny Johnson, Sam Stenson and Matt Zurrer provided plenty of attack throughout the match. Great support from defending players Kate Christian and Aaron Calder.

Warriors Goalkeeper Jarrod again showed his great skills. Warriors played a fine attacking game with Sean, Sam, Stewart and Britney running the ball up well. Josh was a solid defensive player and Jack, Jacinta, Alana and Tim moved the ball well in difficult conditions.

Gulls 4 defeated Aztecs 0

This was  a game of skill determination and total team effort.  Michael scored the first goal and completed it with a 10/10 dive in the mud much to the delight of the spectators. The gulls constantly pressured Aztecs, with Aubrey driving the ball forward all game. Ashley shut down any attempts at Aztecs had on goal and was well supported by James and Kiarn. Steph, Brooke and Kelsi all improved this week while Jake played a awesome game. Well done gulls, good luck to mums washing uniforms.

Gulls 4 defeated Aztecs 1

An undermanned Aztecs side tried valiantly, but were unfortunately were outdone on the day. Wet and muddy conditions did no favours for the Aztecs team, and all Aztecs players tried hard. Well done.

This was a wonderful game to watch, muddy wet kids who were having so much fun. Justin showed his great skills with his determination and never say die attitude this week. Wes, Tiarna and Lara all played well with Ewan winning the award for muddiest player (no surprise). Sarah positioned herself perfectly to score a great goal while Grace and Natalie showed talent in the mud and Peter stood strong in defence.

Drouids 7 defeated Warriors 2

Despite very wet, muddy conditions, Drouids players were very consistent in attack and defence. Katie Jamieson on the wing showed great skills, Michael Dobson, Tom Watts, Jevan Leggett, Luke Jamieson, Julian Hannah, Alex Bong and Tom Copping were all passing the ball during play with skilful advantage. All Drouids players however put in a great team effort.

Gulls 2 drew Aztecs 2

A very even competition played in difficult conditions. Nathan Kemp ran all day and had a great game. Emma Wallin, Chris Miles, Todd Beasley, Isaac Armstrong and Matt Vorbach combined well in the mud as the weather contrived to reduce the game to a display of “ice skating”. All Gulls players had steady, dependable games and a strong defence kept Aztecs to only two goals.

Aztecs played well as a team, manning up and working together to shut down Gulls. James Leitner defended well, passing the ball off to head into attack. Sam Nap was in all plays and fought hard all day. Jade and Melanie Whitehead attacked well and Gabrielle Higgins showed perseverance on the wing. Alex Stammers (in goal), Jasmin Allan and Jake Griffiths put in 100% in defence.

Drouids 3 defeated Warriors 0

Women’s

Drouids 4 defeated Gulls Green 1

The Gull's Mud Hens played with undying effort despite thick mud and rain. There was dogged determination by all to stay upright and to get the ball into the goal. They were finally rewarded when Emma Wallin hit the ball into the goal mouth, where a flick by Michelle Goulter resulted in their only goal.

In muddy conditions, Drouids started well with all players in excellent positions. Goal scorers were Becky, Meg and Stacey. Well done to all players in the conditions and thanks to Eliza Berryman for filling in as goalie.

Warriors 6 defeated Gulls Gold 1

A slow game in extremely muddy conditions made for a short passing game.  Outstanding effort from all especially Chris Hobbs, Sam Williamson, Lisa Dapple, Lisa Hatfield, Janelle New.  Great Defence by Kym Rinehart, Rachel Taylor and Jo Knersch. Goal Scorers Chris Hobbs 3, Janelle New 2, Lisa Hatfield 1

Men’s

Warriors 4 defeated Drouids 1

Warriors short passing in the heavy conditions helped to set up goals to Jim Zurrer and Steve. Chris Breaden ran the ball to score as well. Strong defence by Stuart Horsburgh in the goals stopped a number of Drouids attempts. Mark Baker was again solid in defence.

For Drouids, excellent play was made by Jaiden Leggett, passing to John Thompson to score. Strong defence by Paul Pearson and excellent keeping by Michael Smythe kept many Warriors attacks out. The lack of numbers was telling in the second half allowing in more Warriors attacks but all players put in a great effort all game, especially Jaiden Leggett who was taken to hospital in the first half after a nasty blow to the head.

Gulls 9 defeated Aztecs 1

The men, otherwise known as the Mud Larks, slipped and dived through the mud, with the players often sliding past the ball unable to stop. The ball was frequently lost from sight in the mud. Marc Freestone, Steve Wearne and Owen Anderson all scored their first goals for the season, with Steve going on to have a hat trick.

A combination of extremely wet conditions and an undermanned side made if hard for the Aztecs to play an attacking game. Gulls dominated most of the play, however Aztecs players fought hard to the end. Their only goal was scored in the last 5 minutes of the game by Paul Black after receiving a penetrating hit from the other end of the field by Chris Wood-Davies.
