Warriors 2 defeated Gulls 1
On a very overcast afternoon this was the battle of the day with two brave soldiers Jake and James desperately defending their troop. Ashley never gave an inch and attacked throughout the game. Lauren, Brooke and Kelsi showed huge talent and bravery when the Warriors charged forward. Skillful hockey was shown by Kiarn, Stephanie, Lucia, Melina and Genivieve and Michael. Well done Kelsey Bayels who stopped a certain goal. Excellent game kids!
What a team effort by every member of the Warriors team. In the first half there was a great forward move resulting in a wonderful goal scored by Jack Trippett. Other key players were Rebecca Wardell, Samuel Lodge, Sean Bulmer and Jacinta Brown in defence along with our wonderful goalie Jared Lynch. Nicholas Brown generated many attacks on goal and eventually scored. Everyone played very determined hockey using great skill.

Aztecs 5 defeated Drouids 0
Fantastic teamwork was displayed by Aztecs to defeat the Drouids team. The fast legs of our forwards aided by the skilled passing by the backs and great defensive work by goalie Alex saw the ball sent down the field into goal. Goal scorers: Georgia Irwin 2, Dana Howard, Mel Whitehead, Lee Childs.
Drouids worked hard against Aztecs who proved to be strong on Saturday. Claire Wiglesworth and Tom Watts played as great defenders at the start of the game, while Jess Harrison and Alex Borg played good attacking positions on the wing. Only 3 players were fresh on the field so thanks to everyone for filling in and rotating positions.
Gulls 12 defeated Warriors 0
The very strong Gulls side came up against a very young Warriors side. It was great to see the Gulls playing as a team, backing each other up and sharing the goals around. It was enjoyable watching a team who looked like they were glad the season had begun. Mel Forth showed great improvement for Gulls.

Aztecs 2 defeated Drouids 1
Aztecs coach Robyn Ridsdale was ecstatic as the final siren sounded - a win for the team after a long drought which extended back to all of the 2005 season. Both goals were scored as a result of short corners ably pushed out by Melanie Crookston and stopped by James Leitner. In the second Drouids were awarded a penalty stroke. With the pressure on goalie Alex Stammers, he positioned himself well and spread himself wide to make a glorious save. Goal scorers: Jamie Cochrane, Sam Nap.
Drouids players had many fast breaks but could not break through the Aztec defence. Julian Hannah scored our only goal from the top of the ‘D’ just after a scramble to try and gain a goal closer in. A few players down today so many thanks to the seven U15s who played up a grade.
Gulls 5 defeated Warriors 1
Against a very undermanned Warriors team Gulls 17, while having a good win, were unable to show the great teamwork of which they are capable. Todd Beasley played great attacking hockey and scored 3 goals in his first game this season. Isaac Armstrong also played well in attack. Great to see Rochelle MacFarlane at the game and ready early this week. Go Gulls!
With Warriors only having 7 players, they worked hard to keep the score to 5-1. Lyndon Calway, the goalie, was kept busy all match. Unfortunately Bronwyn Rayner was struck in the mouth be a stray stick which left the team with only 6 players. Mark Baker and Peter Lozal put in a great effort as backs and Michael Bridgman ran his legs off and was rewarded with a goal. Warriors had the spirit of a team and did well against a Gulls team of 14. Well done Warriors.
Women’s
Aztecs 2 defeated Drouids 1
An excellent team effort which finally saw Aztecs score when they finally learnt to pass around the goalie. Melissa Scott saw some action in her first game in goals and played well, saving several potential goals. She was ably supported by our team veterans, Marg Powell, Jackie Mowat and Jan Park. Alicia Wood-Davies was our key player, controlling the ball well and pushing into attack. Bonnie James, Chantal Wood-Davies and Kerry Irwin played superb on the wing and Megan Farmer tackled and hassled well in her first game of the year. Thanks to as, Mel, Steph and Sam for their fresh legs. Goal scorers: Rowena Beck, Kerry Irwin.
Drouids displayed great teamwork on Saturday with the fullbacks working well to stop a number of Aztecs short corners. Drouids scored early in the second half to take the lead however Aztecs replied with 2 goals to run out winners. Drouids would like to welcome new players Stacey O’Brien and Amy Worlley. Goal scorer: Becky Smythe
P.S. Last week’s goal belonged to Lauren Conochie.

A tight match resulting in a draw.
Drouids 5 defeated Aztecs 0
The game started frenetically with early goals scored by fill-in’s Steve and Paul. The quick pace continued with the ball being kept in attack by the good passing and long hitting of Gordon and Bison. Daniel managed 2 goals and fill-in Lee scored another.
This was a fast skillful game by both Aztecs and Drouids. The score did not reflect the balance of play. Key players included Leigh Childe, Graham Midgley and Patrick Childe while Brendan Scott was the improver for this week.
