Gulls Gold 4 defeated Gulls Green 0
Gulls Gold Vs Green met in a clash of epic proportions. Gold were short on players but not enthusiasm. This was a terrific game with plenty great skills displayed. For Gold, Luke McWha broke away several times (well supported by Jessica Kass, Jamie McWha and Pippa Dent) to convert. While Gabbie, Alec, Cameron, Nick and Robbie had more possession of the ball than the score showed. All had good stick work and great tackling. Lots of fun was had by all.
Drouids Navy 3 defeated Warriors1
The game started at a fast pace with the Warriors pressing the Drouids defence. Great passing and persistence in attack allowed goals to Riley Morton and Lachlan Hannah from Drouids. Great defending by Edward Edmonds prevented Warriors from scoring at all in the first half. It was a great team effort by the whole team.
Great Warriors attacking by Fletcher Boreham and Lachlan Tress almost scoring in the first half. Samantha Taylor stopped a well worked Drouids attack and Samantha Cummings made a good break away from the Drouids goal. It was a better second half with a great goal from Ethan Calway.
Aztecs 1 defeated Drouids Blue 0
An all girls Drouids team gave the Aztecs a run for their money keeping the scoring low. The rain thankfully held off, allowing Meghan Wright, Stephanie Zurrer, Zoe Bush and Alice Grant to excel in defence. Great defence also by Tara Pederson blocked many attacks keeping the Aztecs to only one.
Aztecs played a fantastic running game with a special mention to Megan Forrest and Eleanor McKenzie for great tackling. Chloe, Olivia and Sarah were great in defence and Tayla made a great run forward scoring the only goal of the match.
Under 11
Drouids 1 defeated Gulls 0
Drouids well-organised use of wings and solid defence created many early surges. Jenna Pederson persisted in the circle to score the Drouids goal. Defence line Prue, William, Liam and Alec worked hard for the remainder of the match, managing to stymie Gulls frequent goal attempts. Well captained by Danielle and excellent passing by Thomas.
Gulls just couldn’t get their game into gear. Individual skills kept the ball int heir forward area but poor team play couldn’t overcome the dogged Drouids defence.
Aztecs 1 defeated Warriors 0
Good effort by the young Warriors team, Ben Murphy tried hard in goals and was under consistent attack. Brendan Noye employed good forwarding tactics to ensure he had plenty of team-mates to hit to. Aiden Cummings was always on the ball worked well to keep the ball up forward.
A great game by all Aztecs players. Strong play by Chris Cooper and Matt Phyland. Consistent defence by Michael Finger, Dean McMaster and Sean Griffiths. Excellent effort by Liam Robinson who played a great game and fantastic goal scoring by Shannon Ward.
Under 13
Drouids 2 defeated Gulls 1
Great team play by Gulls. Kelsi Bray played an awesome game this week with a great back up from James. Michael scored a strong goal with Aubrey having plenty of the ball. Well done Gulls!
A great fast flowing game highlighting the skills of many players. Great stand out play from Telese Lane, Nicole Cooper, Liz Christian and Kate Christian.
Aztecs 2 drew Warriors 2
Under 15
Aztecs 5 defeated Warriors 0
A well played team game by Aztecs with a lot of help from younger players. Key players were Leigh Childe, Dana Howard and Jake Griffiths. Mel Whitehead and Jessie Ward also had great games scoring two goals each. Heidi Smitt provided great back up in defence too.
Warriors player Sean Bulmer did a fantastic job tackling in defence. Warriors had much of the play but were unlucky not to score with the wings working well out wide.
Gulls 3 defeated Drouids 2
Great team play this week. Ewan worked well with dynamic play by Wes. Tiarna, Grace and the sensational Lara moved the ball quickly up the field. Sarah and Mel tried hard this week with strong defensive play by Peter.
Despite tyring very hard Drouids players couldn’t quite match the Gulls for scores. Some players showed excellent ball skills and passing skills. Goal Scorer was Julian Hannah.
Under 17
Gulls 1 defeated Drouids 0
Good team work proved to be the catalyst for a late 1st half goal from Isaac Armstrong. The 2nd half saw Gulls continue to pressure the Drouids goal. James Meaker and Emma Wallin combined well from a short corner only to be denied by the Drouids defence. Emma Wallin, Matt Waller, Isaac Armstrong and James Meaker all had stand out games in a great team effort.
Drouids continued their excellent short passing game and played great team hockey. Zac, Matt, Tom, Katie, Jevan, Leigh, Joh and Liam constantly presented, passed accurately and ran hard. Goalkeeper Shane Vincent was excellent in goals, and the team were unlucky not to capitalise on their short corners.
Aztecs 1 drew Warriors 1
Jade Whitehead was the Aztecs scorer, and her determination was also rewarded with the Coach’s award. Melanie Crookston positioned herself well to receive the ball and approached the game aggressively. Gabrielle Higgins played an excellent game on the wing and was instrumental in the Aztecs attempts at goal. Patrick Childe used his height well as Goalkeeper and managed to smother many Warriors attempts.
Women’s
Aztecs 5 defeated Drouids 2
A great team effort which was helped by the addition of our junior players and Bridget Penny. Robyn Ridsdale and Sam Nap showed good form with strong hitting and good tackles. Kerry Irwin was again well positioned in attack and snuck in 2 goals. Alicia Wood Davies also showed a return to her form, with good running play which enabled her to score 2 goals. Melanie Crookston was the other goal scorer.
Gulls Gold 2 defeated Gulls Green 0
After a slow start the undermanned Gulls Green then combined well to play a skilled, solid game. Emma Wallin, Tiarna Kramer, Cathy Gower and Michelle Goulter were key players. Julie and Sarah Anderson continued to improve. Ruth Eshuis took on the role of goalie, showing solid defence.
Men’s
Gulls 1 drew with Drouids 1
A quick, early goal was scored by Justin Ballantyne from a scum in front of the goal for Gulls. They then played a fast flowing game with great running by Stuart Dowel, Richard Court, Marc Freestone, Rob Mercer and Justin. Gulls made repeated attempts to goal without success for the rest of the match. Steve Wearne showed great bursts of speed and skill.
