Warriors One def Warriors Two

In cold wet conditions both teams played well, with both team skills improving every week. Shannon Fisher tackling well, Josh Horsburgh scoring 2 goals for Warriors 2, Toby Taylor and Kate Rinehart pushing the ball forward trying hard to score.

Drouids def Aztecs 3 – 1 ( Scratch match)

The game was a friendly match, with some Drouids playing for the Aztecs. But by half time there were many on the bench for both teams. Drouids newcomer Alanna Hunt scored her first goal in her first match. Also Lachlan Pearson scored his first ever goal and Nathan Smith one goal also. With the Drouids team, we were able to mix the team around giving many players a different position.

Drouids def Aztecs 4 – 0

Drouids ran hard from the start of the game and were rewarded early with Jarrod Smith scoring a couple of minutes in.  Jarrod Pearson also made the most of an early opportunity scoring not long after.  Grace Park and Jenna Wright both ran hard all game and Kelsey Powell worked hard in the back line. Chelsea Beca continued to impress with her strong hitting and Isaac Daly’s defence was impenetrable. Nathan Smith struck the ball beautifully to score the third goal. A very even second half saw Jarrod Smith slotting his second for the game. Sara Fleming was alert in goals and Caitlin Jones, Felicity Johnson and Piper Hobson moved the ball around well through the centre. Well done Drouids on a great team game.

Goal scorers: Jarrod Smith (2) Jarrod Pearson (1), Nathan Smith(1).

The Aztecs' players ran hard and fast and all players showed great teamwork.
Great passes by Corey Rosewarne and Tim Giles. Good tackling by Erin Spragg who received the 'Most disciplined player' award this week. Tara Bagnall was strong in defence. It was a great game but unfortunately Aztecs scored no goals.

Gulls def Warriors 2 - 1

Warriors back on the grass this week, started with a couple of short corners and weren’t able to capitalise. Against the run of play Gulls found space and scored. One of Matt Lubberink’s penetrating free hits found Josh Horsburgh running into goal for a quick reply, which was the score at half time. Second half saw great defence from Ryan Ward, Jasmine Mead and Oscar Bateman who showed skills of trapping and winning the ball. Kate Rinehart showed skills also enabling her to win a number of free hits helping warriors propel forward. Overall an evenly contested game with the gulls taking the honours this time.

Wet and muddy conditions didn't dampen the Gull's spirit in an evenly matched
game against the Warriors. They had to work hard to score against an equally
determined opposition. Sam Gilbert was in fine form and scored two superb
goals. Mitchell Nunan was great at tackling as was Gabriella Carbon. Jeremy
Van Wichen-Robinson, Travis Gallagher and Matthew Duttneal read the play well
and passed off to players in good position. Stewart Bedford and Isabelle Mann
were strong in defence. Daniel Greenall ran hard in attack and defence.
Olivia Donders played well in goals and kept the opposition score to a minimum.

Drouids def Aztecs 5 – 1

After a sluggish start from Drouids, Aztecs scored an early goal.  Grace Park, Cassie Sherlock and Steph Zurrer were all playing their positions well and Meghan Wright was strong in defence. In the second half, Ed Edmonds was on fire, taking a solo run up the wing after a great pass from Sam Watts and scoring our first goal.  This was followed quickly by a beautiful strike from Charlie Park.  Mitchell Park, Riley Jamieson and Thomas Park all rang hard through the centre and set up the next three goals that were shared between Ed and Charlie.  Jack Shaddock was once again solid in goals.  A great team game from Drouids!

Goal scorers: Charlie Park (2) Edwards Edmonds (3)

Warriors def Gulls 1 - 0

Whilst it was a wet; muddy & extremely slippery field for Gulls & Warriors; Gulls once again showed outstanding teamwork. Albert Ryan was a real asset in goals with some good saves. Jess Ross was solid in defense, proving to be a real force with her brilliant defensive play. Ryan Claxton provided persistent pressure, running the field well. Jack Barry was in amongst the play again, with outstanding efforts from this new player. Mykahlia McCraw was a quiet force showing real skill.
Hamish McCallum, Nick Mann, Pippa Dent & Josh Gilbert once again provided plenty of pressure with some outstanding defensive play. Rachel Harris also played a brilliant game. Thanks again to our consistent under 11’s Sam Gilbert & Matthew Duttnell for stepping up to play.

In wet and cold muddy and boggy conditions and the state of the field made it hard for both teams to score and move the ball along the field. Great passing between the forwards and many attempts to score a goal. Sam Chilvers tried hard to put the ball in the goals, finally Maddy Noye scoring. Great defence on the back line from Samantha Taylor. Congratulations to Maddy Noye and Samantha Cumming for making the Under 13's state Team.

Gulls def Warriors 4 – 2

It was a great first half for the Warriors who came in with amazing strength and power. The weather had cleared up for their game and everyone was ready to rumble. Wade Oldham showed great skills in the early parts of the match and Tayla Stephens did tremendous backing up on the wing. As usual, Aiden Cummings had great passing and tackling skills and dominated most of the field play. The first goal was scored by Brenton Lowes and the second by Brendan Noye, who played well all game. Everyone on the field participated well with one another.

Drouids def Aztecs 3 – 0

Drouids were off to a good start with goals from James Pugh, Ben Mccarty, and Edward Edmonds in the first half. A strong defence from Will Edmonds, Prue Grant made it hard for the Aztecs to advance. There weren’t any goals in the second half but there was fierce competition from Luke Hall all through out the game. The game ended with the Drouids running off the pitch victorious by a margin of 3-0. The winners of the best on ground for the Drouids were Anne-Marie Flemming and Rosmary Mccormak.

Goal scorers: Edward Edmonds (1), Ben Mccarty (1) and James Pugh (1)

Drouids def Aztecs 5 – 1

A great team game today by all Drouids players. Excellent work up forward by Jordan Di Pietro who score two goals, Luke Jamieson also scoring two goals and Lachlan McLean scoring one. Never stop running by Keshia Leggett, Ben Mc Carty, JamesPugh, Prue Grant, Sam Stenson and Samantha Atkins, backed up in defence by Will Edmonds and GK Bronte Hobsen. Special thanks to all the Under 15’s who played up.

Gulls def Warriors 4 – 2

A hard and fast game played in ideal conditions. Kiarn Uliando played extremely well playing the ball and tackling. James Bedford displayed excellent skills as a team player and running well with the ball. Even with an injury, Elliot Campbell kept up with the play. As usual, fantastic defending in the goal by Jesse Dent. Great team work and unity shown by all the Gulls.

Goal scorers: Joel Claxton (2), Ashley Gaylard (1) and Sam Tyson (1)

The Gulls delayed the match for about 5 minutes, complaining about the grass surface and how dangerous it would be. Because of this, the Warriors were given a goal and Gulls had to catch up quickly. Jacinta Brown played a great inner all match and tried really hard, seeing that both teams were short on players. Sam Lodge was great in defence and cleared the ball several times during the game. Nick Brown and Leigh Boreham ran a great distance on the field and kept the Gulls on their toes. The only goal actually scored during the day was by Lisa Shaw, who was in a great position in the circle. Goalie Carly Mattson defended extremely well under pressure and Jemma Rinehart was tackling her opponents well.

Women’s

Drouids def Aztecs 6 – 2

It was the usual friendly game with Drouids itching to get even after their loss the last time we met. Unfortunately, Aztecs were very sluggish this week and failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities. Alicia Wood-Davies worked the ball hard up front with great support from Chloe Bourke, Bridgette Ockerse and Jane Rees. Great team work from Jane, Steph Hill and Alicia saw the two goals scored. Robyn Ridsdale, relishing her chance to have a run in attack, positioned herself well and directed play many times. Tiffany Bourke and Jan Park tackled well and Sam Hill was fantastic in defence and manning players. Jackie Mowat and Cassie Jolley fought hard to defend the many Drouids attacks and without Barb in goals, the score would have been much higher.

Goal Scorers: Alicia Wood-Davies (1), Jane Rees (1).

A great team effort by everyone, set-ups by Clare, Justine, Tahlia and Kesha contributed to the 4 point win over the Aztecs with Becky Smythe scoring 5 goals and Leah Holgate one. The tiger award went to Nicki Cann for her strong defence and her ability to drive the ball up the field. All this would not have been possible without Fiona Conochie who did a great job at coaching and supporting from the sidelines.

Goal scorers: Becky (5), Leah (1).

Warriors def Gulls 4 - 0

This was a great fun match by both teams.  Warriors played really well with everyone contributing on the field. Lisa Smith scored two goals with Rachel one and Belinda Hatfield also scoring one.

Men’s

Drouids def Aztecs 4 - 0

Drouids men were back on the grass again this week, which slowed the game down. Many attempts at goals with Drouids coming out in front with 4 goals. Anthony McDonald scored his first ever goal. This score line was possible with the back defense keeping the strong Aztecs team from scoring. Well done Drouids.

Gulls def Warriors 4 – 2

This was a very fast paced game, played on a much improved surface this week.  Unfortunately we once again let in an early goal. Everyone worked hard all game, it was good to have Micheal Bridgeman playing as centre forward, and he did a great job, setting up a lot of shots.  Tyler worked hard to keep the ball in the forward line, as did Mick Crawford who was rewarded with a very nice goal.  Steve Kehayas played a typical hard running game at centre half and also got a beautiful goal.  Stuart Horsburgh had a rare foray as a halfback, but was soon back at full back as the complete lack of running ability took its toll. Everyone tried hard but we unfortunately let them have too many easy shots at goal (we won't mention the goalie this week - sorry Lyndon!).
