Gulls End of Season Wrap Up

Gulls 2025 Winter Season Wrap Up

It’s been a great season for Gulls.  We had a fun and boisterous celebration on Tuesday night with our juniour players and their families.  It was so much fun to celebrate the team successes and award some individuals for their skill development, team play and positive attitudes.  I want to say a big thankyou to our coaches and team managers who have stepped up to the challenge of volunteer support in these roles.  Jake, Darren, Sam, Michael, Jordan and Bobby have all done an amazing job at encouraging the kids, building up their hockey skills, helping them learn the value and importance of team play and drawing in the families to be part of the fun aswell.  I want to pass on big thankyous to our parents and families who have stepped in to help when asked, committed to umpiring, supported the canteen consistently and been active in their kids sporting endeavours.

Our Gulls Snrs men and women's teams have both seen a rebuild this year.  Naomi and Raj have both done an amazing job of drawing in new players, getting the info out for game days and working hard to build up some enthusiasm and team spirit.  Thank you both for your extra level of work to recreate and strengthen our senior competition.

A wrap up wouldn’t be accurate without mentioning the finals weekend.  Our u12s team hardly won any games last year, but didn’t let that get them down.  They went in with positive attitudes this year and made it all the way to the gold medal, winning the grand final.  Our u15s also won the grand final.  They have worked hard all season to work together as a team, share the ball around and looking out for each other.  This shone through with their grand final win.  Both u18s and mens didn’t make it to the grand final but they were still all smiles at the end of their last games.   The women’s team were runners up, each receiving a silver medal.  It was such a credit to their persistence to build up a completely new team and play with enthusiasm each week.    A number of our Jnr players also won association MVPs and runner up awards.  We are very proud of the hard work and commitment they have put into the local hockey competition and their personal development.

Next year Gulls will still be seeking out new (or returned) Snr players and more players for our u18s teams.  We may have some gaps in our u12s and u15s team as well.  If Tuesday training nights work for your calendar, touch base with us so we can include you in any info at the start of the 2026 season.
